Thanks to Joe Bongiorno, who first dragged me kicking and screaming into the mucky mythos of Swamp Thing, and to Paul Giachetti, who created the amazing header banner.
Thanks also to reader 'Alec Holland,' whose support has been invaluable; Mike Sterling, for promoting Swamp Thing and this site; and Kevin Church, for his excellent optimization advice.
And thanks to Len Wein, Bernie Wrightson, Alan Moore, John Totelben, Stephen Bissette, Jamie Delano, Garth Ennis and all the other creators whose work inspired this site. |

July 2008:
Hellblazer Presents: Chas—The Knowledge #1-5 w: Simon Oliver; a: Goran Sudzuka; c: Matt Hollingsworth Newsarama News Story: Continuing the celebration of Hellblazer's 20th anniversary, Vertigo has also announced a miniseries starring everyone's favorite cabbie and John-Constantine-face-puncher, Chas Chandler. Here's what Vertigo editor Jonathan Vankin told attendees at WW Chicago, according to Newsarama: "Simon Oliver will write a mini-series starring Chaz [sic], Constantine’s cab driver sidekick, entitled Constantine Presents: Chaz: The Knowledge [sic—presumably, this will actually be Hellblazer Presents: Chas: The Knowledge]. The title is based on the tests that a cab driver in London have to pass in order to be licensed, but takes on a double meaning referring to the routes you have to know through London and something pertaining to the supernatural information he’s undoubtedly learned over the years with Constantine." Despite Newsarama's typos in the title, this sounds like one Hellblazer mini worth picking up.
July 15, 2008:

Some Time in 2008::
Hellblazer: Pandemonium w: Jamie Delano; a: Jock; c: To Be Announced CBR.com News Story: To commemorate the 20th anniversary of Hellblazer's first issue, Vertigo has commissioned Jamie Delano to return to the series he created. Here's what he told CBR.com: "Simply, Pandemonium will find John Constantine intrigued through a mixture of sex, magic, politics and ennui to travel abroad to a well-known contemporary war-zone; there, in an environment of fear and cruelty, to encounter a demonic arch-enemy who, with roots in the mythological substrate of the violence-ravaged land, is enjoying a resurgence fertilized by blood." Sounds like Constantine's heading back to Iraq (which he previously visited in the novel War Lord).
Some Time in 2008:
As-Yet-Untitled Hellblazer Graphic Novel w: Ian Rankin; a: To Be Announced; c: To Be Announced What We Know So Far: As the celebration of Hellblazer's 20th anniversary continues, Ian Rankin is writing what he describes here as "a graphic novel, a stand-alone based on the DC Comics character Hellblazer." (Presumably, Rankin realizes the comic is called Hellblazer, not the character.)
Some Time in 2008:
Swamp Thing Hardcover Collection w: Ian Rankin; a: To Be Announced; c: To Be Announced What We Know So Far: DC Comics president Paul Levitz, in his Newsarama.com blog, posted the following statement in response to a question from a reader in a prior blog entry:"Filling in the gap, we’re adding more high end hardcovers of classic DC material, but selected for significant runs or stories rather than with the completeness of the Archives. The Len [Wein] & Berni [Wrightson] Swamp Thing hardcover that Bill requested will be coming as part of this line." No word yet on what that will entail...but I'm sure many will be excited by the news. |
