Thanks to Joe Bongiorno, who first dragged me kicking and screaming into the mucky mythos of Swamp Thing, and to Paul Giachetti, who created the amazing header banner.
Thanks also to reader 'Alec Holland,' whose support has been invaluable; Mike Sterling, for promoting Swamp Thing and this site; and Kevin Church, for his excellent optimization advice.
And thanks to Len Wein, Bernie Wrightson, Alan Moore, John Totelben, Stephen Bissette, Jamie Delano, Garth Ennis and all the other creators whose work inspired this site. |

Happy Halloween: Presenting Swamp Thing Costumes... Sort of by Rich Handley Oct. 31, 2010
Since it's Halloween, and since many bloggers and movie reviewers have historically mistaken Swamp Thing for a monster-type villain instead of the hero that he is, I thought I'd take a look at the ol' Google and see what Swamp Thing-related costumes are out there. The results were rather... amusing.
For instance, there's this one...
...which is actually a Ghillie suit (typically used as camouflage by hunters, snipers and bird watcher), and looks like Chewbacca painted green. (It even has Yoda hands, continuing the Star Wars motif.)
Or there's s this one, available for order at Amazon.com...
...which is clearly the Creature from the Black Lagoon.
Or there's s this one, at Zedomax...
...which is not bad, really, compared to the above two, though the blonde hair is kind of an odd choice.
Amazon also has a Swamp Queen costume...
...which wouldn't be a bad Lady Jane, actually.
This one, of Swamp Thing with his own creator, Len Wein,...
...is fantastic. Bravo!
Finally, eHow provides instructions to make your own Swamp Thing costume, though sadly, there are no images.
If any readers have ever dressed up as Swamp Thing or a Swamp Thing-related character, either for Halloween or just because you damn well felt like it, please send photos and I'll post 'em!
(Confession time: I did once dress up as Swamp Thing for Halloween, and it was a damn cool costume—I was actually Swamp Thing bursting through the cover of his own comic book—but I can't seem to find the photos. If I do, I'll be sure to add them here.)
